Onderwerp: CentOS 7 crasht willekeurig

Hallo iedereen,

Ik ben weer bezig met linux en ik probeer nu al een tijdje de laatste versie van CentOS werkend te krijgen nadat Ubuntu Server 16.04.1 LTS compleet bevroor na een aantal uren zonder probleem te werken. Ik heb vanalles geprobeerd, keer op keer vastlopers, dus ik dacht, misschien werkt Debian niet zo goed op mijn systeem, laat ik iets compleet anders proberen: CentOS

Ik draai nieuwste CentOS met een minimale Gnome installatie (gnome-classic-session gnome-terminal nautilus-open-terminal control-center liberation-mono-fonts gnome-system-monitor) op de volgende hardware:

Intel Xeon X5460 (de 3 verschillende Prime95 testen allemaal een uur gedraait onder Windows 10, geen issues)
Gigabyte GA-EP43T-S3L
8GB DDR-1333 (helemaal getest met Memtest86+)
Nvidia GeForce GT710 (ook getest met OCCT, zelfs in combinatie met de CPU)
Intel Pro/1000 PT Desktop Adapter
Western Digital Scorpio Black 750GB

Ik heb vandaag een verse installatie van CentOS gedaan en helemaal geupdate, en na het kijken van Doctor Who kwam ik er achter dat er een reboot is geweest (net zoals met de vorige installaties die ik probeerde), met uptime kwam ik er achter dat hij nog maar een paar uutjes aanstond... Ik heb geen piepje van het moederbord gehoord.
Volgens de logfile is de crash rond 22:30 geweest.

Ik heb verschillende dingen gehoord, dat het de SSD zou kunnen zijn (die ik dus al heb vervangen door een HDD), dat het de CPU, het moederbord of de voeding zou kunnen zijn. Ik zou er een andere CPU in kunnen zetten maar die performance drop kan ik echt niet aan.

Windows 10 komt de nacht wel door zonder te crashen, maar linux niet, iemand die mij daar mee kan helpen?

EDIT1: Afgelopen nacht is hij rond 5 uur gecrasht en net ook weer, echter hoorde ik ditmaal wel het piepje.
EDIT2: Misschien was het verstandig om te vermelden dat de processor socket 771 is en het moederbord socket 775, de processor is echter aangepast om op een socket 775 moederbord te werken en ik heb de microcode ook toegevoegd aan de BIOS.

Ik heb hier op het forum iemand wel eens horen zeggen dat Linux gevoeliger is voor een slacht intern geheugen reepje dan Windows. Misschien is het dat. Hoe dan ook: zoals jij het beschrijft is het een hardware probleem...

Ik heb Memtest86+ een uur of 4-5 gedraaid, meerdere passes. Ik denk niet dat er wat mis is met het geheugen.
Het lijkt mij eigenlijk ook een hardware probleem gezien het in Ubuntu en CentOS mis gaat, maar wat zou het kunnen zijn?

Ik kan vanacht nog wel opnieuw Memtest86+ draaien en morgen eens testen zonder de PCI-e LAN kaart, verder heb ik weinig andere opties: CPU, GPU, Moederbord of voeding. De voeding is een gloednieuwe Seasonic G-360, ook de GPU is nieuw. Het moederbord, de processor en het RAM zijn tweedehands.

Ik kan er nu even niet bij (straks misschien wel als iemand de poort voor SSH open wilt zetten, anders vanavond pas)
journalctl heb ik al aangezet dus die houd gewoon logs bij.

Iemand heeft mij verteld dat het zou kunnen dat er een fout optreed als de CPU van frequentie wisselt, dus als ik powersaving features in de BIOS uit zet de boel een stukje stabieler word. Iemand anders liet mij weten dat omdat de CPU wat ouder is hij misschien meer voltage nodig heeft om stable op stock speed te werken.

Weer iemand anders heeft een compleet andere kijk: "De hardware werkt goed maar CentOS is niet goed is ingesteld, niet de juiste drivers heeft en/of gewoon niet goed is. CentOS gaat om de een of andere reden niet goed om met de hardware en crast daardoor."

Windows mensen zegmaar. Linux doet configuraties net zoals Windows automatisch neem ik aan. Een andere tip die ik kreeg was het updaten van de CPU microcode, maar het lijkt mij sterk dat Linux Xeon microcode mist.

EDIT1: journalctl is heel lang, ookal begint het bij 05:31 vanochtend als ik -b -1 doe, met alleen pijltjestoetsen duurt het eindeloos (page down werkt niet blijkbaar)
EDIT2: Welk gedeelte willen jullie hebben? Anders blijf ik lekker pijltje omlaag in drukken en post ik straks alles.

Ik deed journalctl -b -1 maar de output is to groot voor dit forum.

Verdere info: afgelopen nacht is hij rond 5 uur gecrasht, 05:31:51 zou best kunnen kloppen. Toen ik even na half 11 keek zag ik uptime: 5 uur nogwat. Daarna deed ik het scherm weer uit. Wat later (ergens na 11 denk ik) hoorde ik het piepje van het moederbord, ik deed het scherm aan en zag CentOS aan het opstarten.

Ik bekijk nu: journalctl -b -0 voor de laatste boot en zie dat de crash/boot om 11:37 was.

Als jullie verder nog info nodig hebben dan hoor ik het graag want ik wil dit oplossen.

Ik heb Memtest86+ een uur of 4-5 gedraaid, meerdere passes. Ik denk niet dat er wat mis is met het geheugen.
Het lijkt mij eigenlijk ook een hardware probleem gezien het in Ubuntu en CentOS mis gaat, maar wat zou het kunnen zijn?

Ik kan vannacht nog wel opnieuw Memtest86+ draaien en morgen eens testen zonder de PCI-e LAN kaart, verder heb ik weinig andere opties: CPU, GPU, Moederbord of voeding. De voeding is een gloednieuwe Seasonic G-360, ook de GPU is nieuw. Het moederbord, de processor en het RAM zijn tweedehands.

Lang geleden draaide ik ook zo'n memtest op een laptop die bij het miste geringste rebootte. Memtest zei: alles OK. Geheugen reepje verwijderen: nix aan de hand. Tweede geheugen reepje er weer in: rebooten om niks. Kortom: die memtest vertrouw ik niet. Maar daar kun jij, vrees ik, niets mee...

Als je voor een verdieping niet de diepte in moet, maar de hoogte, waarom heet het dan ....

Ik heb die ervaring niet, waar ik wel ervaring mee heb: Twee reepjes die niet werken met elkaar, want ze waren van een verschillende leverancier. 3 reepjes werken niet, want ze kunnen alleen per 2 ge-upgrade worden. Sterker nog, voordat ik maar ook 1 server of workstation uit handen geef, draait er minimaal 24 uur memtest + 24 uur bad sector hdd tests wink
